Dueñas
Guatemala
Child
Dueñas, where your child lives, is a small farming village located at the foot of one of Guatemala's active volcanoes, Fuego (Fire). The fertile ground around the village allows for the cultivation of roses and coffee, two of Guatemala's largest exports. Most of the families in this area live in one or two room wooden or adobe houses with tin roofs. Electricity is available to those who can afford it. Running water is available - however, most homes do not have indoor plumbing. Public education is available for those who can afford it and consider education of value. Life in Dueñas is quiet and sometimes difficult.
My name is Brayan Alberto Ordonez Siquinajay. I was born on June 22, 2010. I am 12 years old. Thank God, my family is in good health, and so am I. I am a fifth grade student. I spend my free time playing soccer. I love the color blue. My favorite animal is the leopard. My favorite meal is grilled pork meet. My father´s name is Juan Alberto Ordonez Chen, but he has not lived with us for about 7 years. We do not have communication with him nor his support. My mother´s name is Nancy Yolanda Siquinajay Paz de De Ordonez. She works as a maid in our village to support our family. I have three sisters. We rent the house in which we live; there are 2 rooms, but we use only one. We pay Q450 quetzals = $60 dollars per month. The house is made of blocks, tin sheet roof and a cement floor. The kitchen is separate. We have water and electricity services, and my mother pays for them in the municipality. I live 30 minutes away from the feeding program. I am so happy to be registered in the program. We do not attend church. Please, pray for my family because my mother is the only one who supports us, and she does not have enough income. I thank you for taking the time to read my personal information.
Many blessings,
Brayan Alberto Ordonez Siquinajay
