My Story

Hello! It is a pleasure to greet you with this letter hoping you are doing fine alongside your loved ones. I am Walder Manolo De Leon Luis and my age is 10 years old. Thank God, we continue attending the Catholic Church every Monday. We thank the LW evangelism team who encouraged us to seek God. My mother is Maria De Leon Luis, and she is 39 years old. She continues supporting us with our expenses. As you know, she is the only one that covers our needs since my father abandoned the family. She does the chores at home. In addition, she weaves typical clothes. She raises pigs, hens, sheep, and a cow for selling to get some income. Moreover, we grow corn and black beans for our consumption. Thankfully all my family is in good health.

This year, I am in 3^rd grade, and I continue receiving face-to-face classes. I like this study method because now I am learning a lot, and I can spend time with my classmates at school. Thank God my mother is making an effort to support me at school despite the lack of work in the village and my father's absence. My native language is Maya Quiche, but I would like to improve my Spanish and have the best communication with other people. When I am older, I want to become a good worker because I want to help my mother with home expenses. I love Christmas time because we enjoy eating “tamales” (a typical dish). My favorite drink is Coca-Cola. What I like to do for my birthday is to eat a delicious cake with my family. Among sports, I prefer playing soccer.  I want to express our gratitude to you and to LW because I can have my meals twice a week, and I can have medical and dental attention in the clinics too. As a humble family, our priority needs are corn and groceries. May God bless you!
