My Story

It is my pleasure to greet you in the name of Jesus hoping you are doing great! Praise the Lord my family and I attend Catholic Church; we go once per week. My family and I have already accepted Jesus in our hearts. I am so thankful to God because my family and I are healthy. My father is Pedro Benito Toj, and he is 53 years old. He makes a living by farming the land. My mother is Maria Garcia Garcia, and she is 52 years old. She does the housework and weaves typical clothes to sell and contribute to the income. She also raises hens and pigs for selling to help herself. At home, we grow corn and black beans for the family's consumption.

I am Floricelda Yesenia Benito Garcia, and I am a 14-year-old girl. I am a fourth-grade student; I like to receive classes at school because my learning is better. Nowadays, school supplies are so expensive, and it is hard for my parents to cover them because of a lack of resources. The teaching profession catches my attention, and I would like to study for it. I speak the K'iche´ Mayan dialect as my native language and have some knowledge of Spanish. However, I would like to enhance my proficiency in Spanish to communicate better with others. I love drinking water; it is good for my health. Playing football is so much fun; it is my favorite sport. I enjoy Christmas time; at home we prepare “tamales” (it is a typical dish), and we a have cheerful time as a family. Because of limited resources, we cannot celebrate our birthdays, but someday, I would like to have a cake to celebrate with my family. Being part of Living Water is a big blessing for me because I receive tasty meals, and medical care in the clinics which is a big help for me and my family. At home, the top priorities are corn. Well, this is all for now. May God bless you greatly!

Many blessings,

Floricelda Yesenia Benito Garcia
