Zacualpa

Zacualpa is a small but busy village in a mountain valley. Both Quiche Mayans and Ladinos (those with mixed European ancestry) inhabit the village. The prevalent language is Spanish. Families in this village live in one or two-room homes usually constructed of either wood or adobe. Although many of the people are farmers, the village contains several small and specialized stores, a body repair shop for buses, mechanics, plumbers, and many other small-town tradesmen. It also has a large open-air market which serves much of the area. Even with all of this, the poverty level is extremely high, and the children are very needy.
I greet you fondly in the name of Jesus, hoping you are doing well. My name is Enry Estuardo Morente Simaj, and I am delighted to tell you about my life. I was born on October 15, 2019. I am 4 years old, and fortunately, I am in good health. I still do not attend school because of my age. I stay home and play with my toy cars. What I enjoy the most is playing soccer with my sisters. I have four sisters, but no brothers. My favorite color is yellow and I love eating fried chicken. I like domestic animals, but my favorite one is the cat. I attend the Prince of Peace Church with my mother and sisters. Sadly, I do not have my biological father with me. He abandoned us because he has another family. His name is Carlos Morente Benito. The one who does her best to move forward with our family is my mother, Francisca Simaj Barrera. She raises and sells domestic animals to earn a little income. We have sheep and turkeys at home.
My mom is doing her best as a single parent, but it has been difficult for her to provide my siblings and me with food and clothes. Therefore, I beg you to pray for us. My mom also works for a family by taking care of an older woman in exchange for food. We live in a rented house and pay Q150=$19.40 monthly. The house is made of wood, a tin sheet roof, and a dirt floor. It has one room, a separate kitchen, electricity, and running water. We pay the electricity bill monthly and the running water bill annually. The feeding program is a 40-minute walk from where I live. I am glad to be part of the LW-Adopt A Child because of all the blessings that my family and I get there. I will leave you now, but I want you to know that my mom and I gave all this information to a teacher of the LW evangelism team. Have a fantastic day!
Special regards,
Enry Estuardo Morente Simaj
