My Story

Hello! How are you? This is Adrian Ruano Salguero, and I want to tell you a little about my life. I was born on September 10, 1943, so I am now 80 years old. I am married to Maria Angela Paz Hernandez, and she is in good health; she is a good housewife. I no longer work since I am suffering from my sciatic nerve, and I can hardly walk. Unfortunately, I am not under a medical treatment due to our low resources. I used to have a small second-hand clothes store, but I stopped working due to my health condition four months ago. I have four children; one son and three daughters. They are adults and support my wife and me with Q 400.00 quetzals ($53.00) per month, but it is not enough to cover all our needs. We are frequently in need of groceries. We are sad for everything we are living through, but we know God will not leave us forsaken.

We are living in a rented house with one of our daughters and her two children. The house has three rooms and one kitchen, and it is made of concrete block with a tin sheet roof and concrete floor. We only use one of those rooms. We have running water and electricity. My children pay these bills as well as the rent payment which is Q 1,500.00 quetzals ($200.00) per month. The house is small, but it is not in good condition. It feels so hot inside because the roof is very low, so we have to go out to get some fresh air; fortunately, we have a small patio to do it. We have one dog as a pet. We are attending LW Church called Liberty. I am happy to be part of the feeding program, and it is located 5 minutes away from our house.
