My Story

Hello! My name is Armando, and I have the privilege to introduce myself to you through this letter. My family and I attend Prince of Peace Church on Fridays. We are a large family. Some of our needs are clothes, blankets, and groceries like atoles (typical hot beverages). My father, Gregorio Garcia Calachij, is 40 years old. He still works as a farmer and day laborer for other people to support our needs. Besides that, he grows corn for our consumption. My mom keeps busy doing chores and raising our hens to sell. She sometimes sells herbs at La Plaza in our town to help my father with her income. Her name is Paula Garcia Simaj, and she is 38 years old. Fortunately, none of my family has gotten sick so far. Taking advantage of this moment, I want you to know that LW has been a great help for me. Thanks to your loving support, we have had delicious food.

I am 6 years old, and I am a healthy boy. I do not attend school yet, but I hope to do it next year. I have fun playing with my toy cars. Christmas is my favorite time of the year and I love soccer. I like drinking hot beverages, especially coffee. I am a native Kiche dialect speaker. I know a little Spanish, but I would love to improve my skills to become an expert in that language. I will turn 7 years old, in January. Unfortunately, I did not celebrate it because my family does not have the economic resources to do it. To end this letter, I want you to know that my mom helped me to give all this information to a teacher of LW. I say goodbye to you for now, but I send you many kisses and huge hugs.

From the bottom of my heart,

Armando Garcia Garcia
