Zona 5, where your child lives, is located in a slum area of Guatemala City. An extremely poor area, our program is squeezed in among the shanty dwellings built over an old city dump. Many houses in this area are without toilets or running water and are assembled with scrap wood, sheet metal, and cardboard. Zone 5, is considered one of the most dangerous areas of Guatemala City. It is controlled by gangs and drug pushers. Robberies and murders are common in this area. Public education is available - however, many cannot afford it. Life in Zone 5 is very difficult. This child lives on top of an old rubbish dump in Zone 5 of Guatemala City.
Hello! My name is Cristian Emmanuel Serrano Ajxup. I attend the Zone 5 feeding program. I was born on November 08th, 2008. I am ten years old and I am in good health. I am attending third grade at school. In my free time, I like to play soccer, basketball and to ride a bicycle. My favorite color is red, and my favorite animal is the lion. I love to eat pizza. I have two sisters and two brothers and one of them is my twin. Unfortunately, my father Jaime abandoned us some time ago because he went to live with another couple. Since that time, he almost never helps us financially. That is why, my mother is the only one that struggles to support us by selling second-hand clothes in a market named Tierrero. We live in a rented one-room house made of adobe with tin sheet roof, cement floors, running water and electricity. We do not have a separate kitchen, so my mother has to cook in the same room. We attend a Church called Lamb of God.
With much love and many blessings,
Cristian Emmanuel Serrano Ajxup
