My Story

It is a pleasure for me to greet you through this letter. My name is Sabine Osmarie and I hope you like my information. At the moment, my family and I do not attend any church. However, I hope it might change someday. Taking advantage of this opportunity, I would love to ask for your prayers for my father. Sadly, he suffered a stroke that left his right side, from his face to his foot, without movement. His name is Juan Ramon Alvarado Garcia and he is 45 years old. Before the stroke, he used to make a living as a plumber. Nowadays, he has had trouble walking. My dad also suffers from high blood pressure. He was in the hospital for about two months due to a stroke. He receives the fourth part of his salary at the Guatemalan social security. Nowadays, he has to see the doctor periodically and because of that, he moved to live at his mother’s house because it is closer to the hospital than ours. My mother, Vilma Azucena Hernandez, does her best to take care of him at least every night. She is 44 years old and her health condition is good. This sad situation has also impacted our economy. Our current needs are food and having a new bed. Fortunately, our neighbors have given us food. In addition, my grandma, on my mother’s side, has given us some money to survive.

I am sixteen years old and fortunately, I am healthy. Last year, I was in seventh grade and I passed it. However, I do not attend school this year because there is no money to cover the expenses. Besides that, I do not like to go out of my home alone because I do not feel secure. I love drawing and I would like to make a living by doing that. I also would like to speak a new language like English. My favorite season is the rainy season, and I love drinking horchata (it is a typical beverage made of milk rice, cinnamon, sugar, and water). I had my birthday in February. What I love the most is watching movies with my family to celebrate a new year of life. To end this letter, I want you to know that LW is a great blessing for my family and many others. An AAC member talked with my mother to collect all this information for you. I say goodbye to you for now, but thank you so much for taking the time to read my letter.

Kind regards,

Sabine Osmarie Alvarado Hernandez
