Dueñas, where your child lives, is a small farming village located at the foot of one of Guatemala's active volcanoes, Fuego (Fire). The fertile ground around the village allows for the cultivation of roses and coffee, two of Guatemala's largest exports. Most of the families in this area live in one or two room wooden or adobe houses with tin roofs. Electricity is available to those who can afford it. Running water is available - however, most homes do not have indoor plumbing. Life in Dueñas is quiet.
Hello, my name is Felix Francisco Mendoza Mendoza. I was born on May 7, 2007 and I am twelve years old. I am basically a healthy boy and I walk about ten minutes to get to the feeding program. My father’s name is Pedro and he works as a farmer and he also gathers firewood. My mother’s name is Maria and she is a housewife and dedicates herself to taking care of my siblings and me. I have two brothers and one sister. We rent the house I which we live. It has two rooms made of tin with a dirt floor. We have a separate kitchen and bathroom. We have water and electricity. We are a very need family. I am in the 1st grade. My favorite color is light blue and my favorite animals are doves and rabbits. The food that I like the most is chow mein. In my free time, I like to play ball. My family attends a Nazarene church.
With much love and many blessings,
Felix Francisco Mendoza Mendoza
