My Story

I am Magdalena Morente De La Cruz, and I am glad to greet you through this. I hope you and your family are fine. I am twelve years old. This year I am in sixth grade, and I am receiving face-to-face classes at school from Monday through Friday. My schedule takes place from 7.30 am to 12.30 pm. Thankfully, I have been learning in a good way so far. I really like to study. In the afternoons, I help my mom preparing thread for the weavings she makes. I missed a lot delicious lunch, the time the feeding program was closed due to the pandemic. I try to attend it as much as I can. Thankfully, it is open again. I get there in thirty-five minutes by walking. My father works as a day laborer to support my family financially. He also weaves items to sell and goes to the coast to pick coffee grains seasonally. My mom stays home, she spends time weaving items and raising domestic animals to sell when needed. Occasionally, we enjoy eating some homemade snacks after our daily activities. We do not usually celebrate Christmas.

For now, we are attending Prince of Peace Church that is located fifty minutes away from home by walking. My father is an Elder from the church. During the pandemic our services took place always. Nothing has changed! We own a small and humble house with one room and separate kitchen. It is made of mud-brick, dirt floor and tin sheet roof. We would like to change the kitchen’s and room’s dirt floor into concrete one, so I ask you to please pray for us to get this goal in the future. Thank you very much! The house has electricity and running water services. The pandemic affected my family a little, because there was lack of work. Food supplies and corn is a greatest need for us, that’s why I thank to the feeding program for the grocery bags we received. It was all a great blessing for my family and me. Thank you very much! Everything has been improving little by little thank God. For now, my family and I are all doing well, thank God. To finish, I want you to know, my dad gave this information to an Evangelism team member to share with you my last news. I was happy to write you this. I hope you like it. Take care please!

Lots of hugs,

Magdalena Morente De La Cruz
