My Story

Hello! I greet you in the name of Jesus, and I hope you are doing fine. In this opportunity, I want to share with you some news about my family and me. I am Estuardo Kevin Yobani Garcia Tiño and I am 8 years old. My mother`s name is Juana Tiño De La Cruz and she is 44 years old. Currently, she continues taking care of the family and also raising hens and turkeys at home. I ask for your prayers for her because sometimes she suffers from headaches. Fortunately, she visited the doctor and she is taking medicine.  My father´s name is Ovidio Garcia De La Cruz. He is 40 years old. At the moment, he is earning a living by working as a day laborer. Moreover, he goes to the coast to pick coffee beans during the harvest which is at year´s end.  I want to let you know that he had an accident 1 year ago because he fell off his bike and hurt his knees but thank God, he is feeling better.  We grow corn on rented land and my father pays about Q 300.00 (US$ 40) per 1 year. We are a humble family, so our current needs are groceries, corn, and clothes. Nowadays, we are attending the Catholic Church every Monday and Wednesday. Thank you to the LW evangelism team who encouraged us to continue trusting in God. So, we are sure of our salvation in Jesus. Thankfully, all my family and I are in good health.

This year, I am in 2nd grade at school. I am receiving face-to-face classes, and I learn a lot.  My father strives to support my siblings and me with school expenses even though he does not have a stable job, and also the school fees are very expensive. Sometimes it is very difficult to cover all expenses. My native language is the Quiche Mayan dialect, so I would like to learn Spanish and improve my communication with others. When I am older, I want to become a mason and be able to build houses.  My favorite celebration of the year is Christmas because I like to eat and spend time with my family. I prefer to drink “mosh” (a hot beverage made with oatmeal). Among sports, I prefer to play soccer. What I like to have for my birthday is a delicious cake. We are grateful to Living Water because I receive the meals, medical and dental attention, and spiritual support. I want to say thank you for the Christmas gift that I receive at year´s end. May God bless you!

Kisses and hugs,

Estuardo Kevin Yobani Garcia Tiño
