Cuatro Caminos
Guatemala
Child
Cuatro Caminos "four roads", where your child lives, is an area located high on the side of a mountain in the state of Quiche, Guatemala. Life in this area is very difficult and very isolated from the outside world. It is a two hour walk to the nearest market town of Zacualpa. Cuatro Caminos is a farming area where corn and black beans, the staple elements in their diet, are the major crops. The Quiche Mayans who inhabit this area trace their ancestral roots to the ancient Mayan civilization. They normally speak a Mayan dialect called Quiche - however, Spanish is becoming more common. Very little money ever changes hands in this area as they live on a barter system.
Hello! My name is Jeidy Roxana Luis Garcia, and I am writing this letter to tell you about my life. I was born on June 7, 2016, so I am now 9 years old. I am in good health, and I am in 2nd grade this year. In my free time, I play with my dolls. My favorite color is light blue, and I love cats. I really enjoy eating eggs and Chow Mein. At the moment, my family and I are not attending a church. I have four brothers and five sisters. My father is Julio Luis Morente, and he works as a day laborer; he is in good health. He also grows vegetables and black beans for selling. My mother is Marta Garcia Gomez de Luis and she is a housewife. I would like to ask for your prayers for her because she has been suffering from headaches and pain in her eyes. She has not visited a doctor due to our low income.
We live in our own house, and it has three rooms and a kitchen. It is made of adobe with a tin sheet roof and dirt floor. We use candles at nights, and we use a hose to bring the water from a river. We have one dog as a pet. We are a humble family, and our frequent needs are corn and groceries. I have to walk for about 15 minutes to arrive to the feeding program. This is all for now, and I hope you find it interesting. I tell you that my mom helped me to give my information to LW Evangelism team.
Many blessings
Jeidy Roxana Luis Garcia
