My Story

Hello! My name is Nediola Menkshi. I am 13 years old and my birthday is on November 21st. I am doing well and my health is good. My favorite color is black, speaking about what I like to wear. My future dream is to become a teacher when I grow up. I start my day going to school every morning. I walk to school together with my brother and while we are there I keep an eye on him to care for him. I like school and learning. At present I frequent the seventh grade and my favorite subject is Mathematics. I have made friends from my classmates and like to spend time with them after school is over for the day and before waking to return in the house. When I go in the house, I start to help my grandmother while she cleans and cooks. She and I prepare our dinning table and together we go shopping groceries in the market. After helping my mother, I spend time to study and while I prepare for the next day of school, I help my brother with his homework too. During the evenings or weekends, we like to go out for walks by the lake. I enjoy nature and watching the lake. While we walk, we also buy sweets or drinks. I like to get some time for myself and take the mobile phone of my grandmother to check social media and chat with my friends that I know from my class or neighborhood.

I live in the town of Pogradec, in a small apartment that my grandmother managed to buy for us. My family contains four members who are my grandmother, father, my brother and I. My father is mentally ill and he is taking constantly medication. He is not working and for this reason he receives a pension delivered to people who are invalids. My grandmother is the person who is carrying for him all day and she is our household. She is retired and used to work in agriculture. Her pension is very small. My mother has divorced my father and has left the family since we used to live in one of the villages of the district of Pogradec, called Homezh. She comes to meet my brother and me and we see her often. We are challenged financially and live with very low income. I am happy that I got registered in the sponsorship program of Adopt a Child and will start to receive physical and spiritual care. I frequent the Bible classes of the church in Pogradec and enjoy taking part in all the activities that the church organizes for children. Thank you for your generosity and God bless you as you are carrying for our needs.
