My Story

Hello! It is such a blessing to write this letter to share with you a little about my life. In advance, thank you so much for taking the time to read it. My name is Luis Gerardo Mancilla and I am 10 years old. I am in third grade and I have attended the feeding program for about two years. What I like the most is praying during the Bible lessons that I receive before having my meals. Thankfully, I am in good health. I usually put the shoes where they belong and sweep to contribute to the household chores. I prefer hot rather than cold weather because I like playing with water. I attend the Shelter of the Sheep Church alongside my family. We feel motivated to persevere there because our siblings in Christ offer us joy and unity. The area of the church that I like the most is the worship band and I would like to serve there by playing the drums someday.

My grandmother has assurance that we will be admitted into Heaven because we are children of God. Consequently, brother Juan Carlos (a member of the LW staff) shared the gospel and motivated us to keep going. I want you to know that I have lived under the care of my grandmother because my mother works in the United States to support our family. Fortunately, she is doing well and makes a living by cleaning. Because of restrictions that exist in that country, she sometimes cannot work for a few weeks. Therefore, my grandmother works by cleaning houses and strives to cover our needs. She is not doing well since she suffers from pain in her abdomen, but she already receives medical attention at San Juan de Dios hospital. It is time to say goodbye, but I hope to hear from you soon.
