My Story

Hello! My name is Regina Laraku. I am a 4 year old girl and my birthday is on July 6th. I am doing well and enjoy good health. My favorite color is pink and my future dream is to be a doctor. Right now it is summer, but soon I will go to kindergarten from morning till midday. I enjoy the summer and am excited for kindergarten to resume. Our teacher teaches to us to read, write as well as to draw and color. We also spend time to play there with the few toys the kindergarten has. After I return home from school I like to play with my dolls for a while. The Living Water Adopt a Child church of Katjel has almost daily Bible study meetings, prayer meetings as well as other activities like Movie nights. Once a month I go to receive a food package as a gift from Adopt a Child. The package contains food like flour, oil, sugar, rice, washing detergents, etc. I am thankful to Adopt a Child for helping and supporting me.

My family and I live in Katjel. Working in agriculture or raising animals does not provide a big income, so most of the families in this village are living in poverty. My father’s name is Ferdinant and my mother’s name is Nina. They both work in the land and have planted crops and vegetables to provide for us whatever we need to consume without having to buy in the market. My parents plant alfalfa as well as oat which serves as stock food for the animals. Around our land and gardens we have fruit trees and after collecting these fruits my mother makes jam or composts for us. During the autumn my mother has also preserved vegetables so that we can consume them during the winter. My father is unemployed so he tries his best to find work in different types of short-term jobs. At times, he also emigrates for a season over in Macedonia or Greece and there he works in agriculture. During the winter, my father collects the fire wood we need in the mountains. Cows and goats help with food, and sometimes we sell a few goats or a calf to help us financially.  My family and I are living in poverty and I am thankful to the Adopt a Child sponsorship program for constantly caring for me.

The Living Water Adopt a Child team is having three meetings during the week at our church center in Katjel. On Wednesdays the adults and youth meet for their Bible classes, while the children and ladies meet on Friday for their respective Bible studies. After the Bible classes, the children stay a bit longer to spend time playing and having fellowship. The church service in Katjel is every Saturday. Every month the children who are in the program of Katjel receive a food package containing ingredients that are cooked at home. The package contains food items such as: sugar, rice, oil, pasta, etc. (items that can be cooked and can cover ten to twelve meals for the whole family). For the first time, this year the church of Katjel is having children summer camps where participants will enjoy a great time playing different games, enjoying meals together, and taking Bible classes. Thank you for supporting the children, your generosity is a great help in meeting the spiritual and physical needs of the whole community.
