My Story

Hello! I hope you from the bottom of my heart that you are blessed and have a successful day. I am Carlos Guillermo Ruiz Gutierrez and I am 14 years old. I want to let you know that we continue attending the Catholic Church twice a week. Thank you to the LW evangelism team for encouraging my grandmother during the visit. This year I no longer attend school due to a lack of financial resources and the last year I passed 6th grade. Sometimes, I work as a day laborer to earn some money. My dream is to have a good job and be able to help my family. My native language is the Quiche Mayan dialect, so I would like to learn Spanish and improve my communication with others. My favorite celebration of the year is Christmas because I like to eat “tamales” (a typical dish). Coffee is what I like to drink. Soccer is my favorite sport. What I like to do for my birthday is to eat a cake with my family. In this opportunity, I want to ask for your prayers for my grandparents’ health. My grandfather cannot walk very much because he feels weak. He has pain in his spinal column. He had medical treatment, but due to a lack of financial resources, he could not continue with it. My grandmother has bone pain and no appetite. She has not visited the doctor due to a lack of money. By the grace of God, the rest of my family and I are in good health.

My mother`s name is Magdalena Ruiz Gutierrez. She is 30 years old. Thankfully, she returned to the house. She separated from her husband 7 months ago, and now she is living with us again. She earns a living by working in the tortillas business in order to contribute to home expenses. In addition, she raises hens for our consumption. As you know, my father abandoned the family many years ago, so my mother is the only one that supports us with our expenses. My grandparents live with us, but they are elderly people, who only stay in the house, and we are under their care. As a humble family, our current needs are groceries. We are grateful to Living Water because we have been blessed with meals, medical and dental, and spiritual support. I want to say thank you for the Christmas gift that I receive every end of the year. I hope you enjoy reading my letter. May God take care of you!

Lots of love,

Carlos Guillermo Ruiz Gutierrez
