My Story

It is a nice pleasure to greet you today. I hope you are having a wonderful day with your family. I hope are keeping well and healthy. I want you to know that we are a Catholic family. We go to church twice a week. We are glad to tell you that we have accepted Jesus in our hearts. My father`s name was Feliz Mendez Ruiz. Sadly, he passed away recently due to diabetes and other illnesses. My mother`s name is Marta Toj Ruiz. She is 49 years old. She is currently the only provider at home. She continues tending her business of selling tortillas. I would ask for your prayers for her because she is having problems with her veins. Thankfully, she is under treatment. Moreover, my mother raises chickens for selling to improve the income. Besides that, she grows corn and beans for our consumption.

My name is Ana Maribel Mendez Toj. I am 15 years old. I finished 8th grade this year. I did not repeat this grade. Face-to-face classes are better than online because I feel I can learn better. It has been so difficult for my mother to buy uniforms and school supplies because she is the only one who covers all the expenses. There are many professions, but the one that has my attention is nursing. So, in the future, I would like to become one. Christmas is the happiest time of the year for me. I like eating tamales (typical Guatemalan dish) together with my family. My favorite beverage is Incaparina (hot Guatemalan drink). If I have the opportunity to learn another language, that would be English. As for my birthday, I would like to celebrate it and share a cake with my family. About sports, I do not play any, so I do not have a favorite one. My health is good, but I also want to ask for your prayers for me because I am so sad for the loss of my father. Our basic necessities as a family are groceries. I want to add before saying goodbye that Living Water is very important for me. I appreciate all the groceries support that we received. My mother says that she is grateful for all that LW does for me and also for helping other families too. Lastly, I have to say that my mother gave all this information to the LW team for you. I look forward to communicating with you. I send you my best wishers and prayers to your life.

Many blessings,

Ana Maribel Mendez Toj
