My Story

Dear Sponsors,

Hello! Thank God, I have the opportunity to write you this letter. I want to share with you a little about my life. We all are in good health. I am in the 2nd grade again because I did not pass my grade last year. It was so difficult for me to learn what the teachers taught me. My favorite subject is mathematics. In the afternoon, I help my mother with the chores at home. I look after the goats and baby cows. My father works as a day laborer to cover our home expenses. He also goes to pick coffee beans at the coast from November to January. My mother does the household chores at home. She cleans the house, washes the clothes and takes care of us.

There are seven children in my family. My brother Jose is married and my brother Efrain passed away about a year ago. Accidentally, he drowned in a river. My sister Vilma works in a tortillas business. My brother Osbaldo goes to work in a grocery store in Guatemala City. Ruben attends school and he is in the 3rd grade. Ervin is five years old. My brothers contribute a little with the home expenses. I ask for your prayers for my family that God strengthens us because we were affected by the death of my brother. We attend Prince of Peace church. When I grow up, I would like to have the privilege to sing. We celebrate Christmas time and we prepare ¨tamales¨ (typical dish). We remember the birth of Jesus and that he died to save us. I thank you for all the support that you have given me through the feeding program. Thank you for being such good people with me. I hope to hear from you soon. May God bless you!

With much love and many blessings,

Elicia Carmelina Mendez Mechen
