My Story

Hello! My name is Leandro. I am 6 years old and my birthday is on August 28th. I am doing well and in good health. My favorite color is red and my future dream is to become a police. I started to frequent the first grade of school last year on September. I enjoy school and learning and my favorite subject is ABC. I have made a lot of new friends from my class and we spend time to play and fellowship during the lesson breaks. After school, I like to join and play with the friends who live near my house. I like to take my ball and play outside for a while with my friends and while I spend time playing, my mother or grandmother keep an eye on me. When I return in the house, first I start to learn the school books and do the homework that the teacher gives to us. While I learn, my mother or older siblings help me, especially with reading. I spend the rest of the time inside the house to play with my toys and watch cartoons. I offer myself to help my grandmother when she asks me to do something she needs, like bring water to her when she takes her medicine, etc. I also take the trash out when my mother cleans and help her when she fixes our dinning table. Walks in the town during the evenings are traditional. We visit the park and while walking, we get a drink or different sweets. I have a brother and a sister who are 14 and 11 years old. They are both frequenting school and are registered in the program. I have in my family six persons. We live in the district of Elbasan. Our house offers appropriated living conditions to us. The persons in my family are my grandmother, parents, my sister, brother and I. My grandmother is part of our family and she is old. She faces problems recently with her legs and joins. Part of her being in old age. We care for her and buy the medicine she needs. My grandmother receives a pension and this income has been a help to our family as well. My father and mother are both without a job and the income in our family is very less. My father is working in daily bases, or for several weeks when he gets hired somewhere in the town. He is supplying our needs through such jobs, but not all of them. Even though, we are not facing poverty because our town is large and my father has been able to find jobs to do seasonally. My mother stays in the house and she deals with housekeeping. The local government gives to my family a small amount which is considered as social assistance. Part of this amount is spent for my parents to cover the bills for water and electricity. We are financially challenged and our needs have been a lot. I am thankful to the program of Adopt a Child for the food that they are providing for me as well as for my brother and sister. We receive three food boxes every two months and we are happy for the food that is provided for us and our family. I frequent the Bible classes for children organize at the church. My siblings and grandmother are also frequenting. Thank you for your care and support and God bless you!
