My Story

Hello! My name is Katalea Peci. I am 8 years old, and my birthday is on October. I am doing well and in good health. My favorite color is red, and my future dream is to study and become medical doctor. I started third grade primary school in September. I enjoy learning and the subject I like to study the best is Albanian Language. After school, I like to get together with my friends and spend time playing outside. I like to play hide and seek, games with elastics, and few other games we can play in the road. When I go inside the house, I like to take some time to play together with my brother. We sit together to draw, color and play with toys. We spend a little while watching programs for children on television too. While I care for my brother, my mother is freed to do cooking, cleaning or other things that she needs to get done inside the house. I need to spend a couple of hours learning to get prepared for the next school day and when I study, my mother helps me especially while I do the homework. I live with my family in a village that belongs to the community of Prrenjas. The town is very close to our village, and we go there very often, whenever we need to be there for shopping, receiving official documents, getting visits from the specialist doctors at the hospital, etc. I have five members in my family who are my father, mother, my younger brother and me. We own our land and deal with farming a bit, but we gain very little. My father instead of dealing with agriculture here in the village has gone to work in Greece to provide better income for our family. He works for three months in Greece, depending on where he gets hired, sometimes in agriculture, other times in construction. We miss him when he is not in the house, on the other hand, we are happy he has a job to work and provide for us. My mother usually plants vegetables in our garden and she is at present collecting fruits and making jam or fruit juice out of them. We have no animals, even though we keep a few chickens to gain fresh eggs feeding them. Besides working on the land, my mother is also doing the housekeeping, and her day is very busy. My brother is four years old. He goes to kindergarten where he spends the first part of his day. My brother is also registered in the program and we both frequent it regularly. My house is in good condition of living, and we are not very poor, since my father works in emigration to provide for us. Even though, he works for three months only, and we have still many uncovered needs. I am very thankful to the sponsorship program for the spiritual and physical help they are offering to me. I like to go regularly at the Bible classes of the program where we learn about the Lord. I am also happy that I receive food packages constantly as help for my family and me.
