Hello! My name is Adonias Eliseo. I am 7 years old and I live along with my parents and siblings. I attend 2nd grade and I receive classes only on Monday for two hours. I give my homework to my teacher when I go to classes. For me, it is very difficult to learn with only two hours of classes, I think that this is not enough time to understand the lessons. At home my mother cannot help me because she does not know to read. In my free time, I help to collect firewood and feed the hens. My father struggles hard to cover our family needs; he works as a farmer and day laborer. Furthermore, he goes to pick coffee beans on the coast during the harvest along with my brother Ronaldo. My mother stays busy with the duties at home. Moreover, she raises hens, pigs and sheep for selling, to contribute with the income.
Unfortunately, the covid-19 pandemic came to affect our family´s economy due to lack of work. Last year, we could not go to work on the coast, and it was very hard to find a job in our village. It made things really hard economically at home, since my father only found one or two days of work per week. We were surviving thanks to the help that we received from my siblings’ school and from the feeding program. We are sure that our Lord has been providing our daily provision at home. Even though we did not have jobs or resources, we have never lacked food on our table. We are deeply thankful to Living Water / Adopt A Child who has been blessing us with grocery bags as support. The help arrived when we did not have resources to get our food, and the groceries helped us to feed ourselves for a time. We want to give thanks from the bottom of our hearts to you and LW staff for blessing us, especially during this hard time due to the pandemic. We thank God for being part of the program, and we pray to Him to bless you and everyone who contributes so that children can get the support. Thank God, we are in good health, and none of us have been infected with covid-19 so far. I tell you that recently I had some health issues. Fortunately, my mother took me to the LW clinics and I received medical attention. We attend Prince of Peace Church on Wednesday and Friday. I want to let you know that an evangelism teacher of LW called my mother, Felipa Riz by phone to get this updated information since the feeding program is still closed due to the pandemic. I say goodbye to you for now. May God bless you greatly!
Hugs with much love,
Adonias Eliseo Bautista Riz
