My Story

Zacualpa is a small but busy village in a mountain valley. The village is inhabited by both Quiche Mayans and Ladinos (those with mixed European ancestry). The prevalent language is Spanish. Families in this village live in one or two room homes generally constructed of either wood or adobe. Although many of the people are farmers, the village contains several small specialized stores, a body repair shop for buses, mechanics, plumbers and many other small-town tradesmen. It also has a large open-air market which serves much of the area. Even with all of this, the poverty level is very high and the children are very needy.

Hello! My full name is Neymar Eduardo Osmel Ajqui Quino, and I thank you so much for taking the time to read my information. I was born on May 17, 2022. Luckily, I am a healthy boy and I love having fried chicken for my meals. I do not attend school because of my young age. I like the color yellow and my favorite animals are sheep. I live with my parents and siblings; I have two brothers and two sisters. We are members of a Methodist Church which is near where I live. My father’s name is Hugo Ajqui de la Cruz and he is the main supporter of our family. He works as a farmer, while my mother takes care of my siblings and me. Her name is Maria Quino Portuguez and she is pregnant. Therefore, I kindly ask you to pray for her and the new baby.

About my father, I tell you that he has vision problems, but he has not gone to the doctor because of a lack of money. We live in a small house, which only has one room, a separate kitchen, electricity, and running water. My paternal uncle is the owner of the house. He allowed us to raise chickens, sheep, and pigs at home for our consumption. We also have one dog as a pet. Some of our greatest needs are groceries, corn, a new stove, and a new concrete sink. So please, pray for us. The feeding program is about 20 minutes from where I live. Due to my mother’s condition, we usually take a bus to get there. It is time to say goodbye, but I hope you enjoyed my information.
