My Story

Chixocol, where your child lives, is a very small village nestled in a mountain valley in the state of Quiché, Guatemala. Life in this state is very difficult and somewhat isolated from the outside world. Most families live in one-room adobe houses with dirt floors and a small, attached kitchen. The extremely poor live in houses made of corn stalks. In the past few years electricity and water have become available to most people in the area - however, indoor plumbing is very rare. Most of the families are farmers or shepherds and live off the fruits of their labors. Public education is available for those who can afford it and consider it of value. Life in Quiché is always a challenge.

It is a beautiful day to say hello to you and share my information through Living Water. My full name is Andy Natanael Morente Rodriguez. My birth date is October 28, 2021. I turn 5 years old this year. I live with my parents and one brother. My father´s name is Augusto Romero Morente Gomez. He works in a hardware store, and he loads construction materials onto the trucks. My mother´s name is Gregoria Paulina Rodriguez Coj. My mom is a housewife and cares for my brother and me. My family and I are attending the Prince of Peace Church. I am very happy to tell you that my family and I are doing well. My father is recovering from measles. Meanwhile, my mom is covering the home expenses.

I am in pre-kindergarten this year. My hobbies are playing football and playing with toy cars. The meal I love the most is fried chicken. I love dogs and my favorite color is red. Let me tell you that we are living in my paternal grandparents’ house; they live there, and one of my aunts lives there too. There are five adobe rooms; the roof is made of tin sheets and a cement floor. We have running water and electricity; the whole family contributes to paying for those services. Our greatest needs are groceries and corn. It is a great blessing for me to be enrolled in the feeding program, and I arrive there by car in 10 minutes. My mom takes me to the program.
