My Story

Chixocol, where your child lives, is a very small village nestled in a mountain valley in the state of Quiché, Guatemala.  Life in this state is very difficult and somewhat isolated from the outside world.  Most families live in one-room adobe houses with dirt floors and a small attached kitchen.  The extremely poor live-in houses made of corn stalks.  In the past few years electricity and water have become available to most people in the area - however, indoor plumbing is very rare.  Most of the families are farmers or shepherds and live off the fruits of their labors.  Public education is available for those who can afford it and consider it of value.  Life in Quiché is always a challenge.

My full name is Andrea Abigail Gomez de Paz and I was born on May 17, 2019 in Joyabaj, Quiche. I am 7 years old and I am in good health. I like to play with toy dishes and dolls in my spare time. I am in 1^st grade this year.  My favorite meal is grilled chicken and pink is the color I prefer. I have one brother and one sister, and my brother is also registered in the Feeding Program. We come to the Project by bus and we arrive in twenty minutes. My mother accompanies us. My mother`s name is Juana de Paz Brito and my father`s name is Emmanuel de Jesus Gomez Chuluc. He earns a living as a day laborer and security guard to provide for our family needs. My mother dedicates her time to the family and household duties. We have pigs and hens at home. We persevere in the Emmanuel Assembly of God Christian Church.

Thankfully, my whole family and I are doing well. We live in our own house and we have one room with a separated kitchen. The room is made of tin sheet walls and roof with cement floor. We have run water and electricity services and my father pays for it. We have hens and pigs at home. Well, this was my personal information and thank you for taking the time to read it.
