Chixocol
Guatemala
Child
Chixocol, where your child lives, is a very small village nestled in a mountain valley in the state of Quiche, Guatemala. Life in this state is very difficult and somewhat isolated from the outside world. Most families live in one-room adobe houses with dirt floors and a small attached kitchen. The extremely poor live in houses made of corn stalks. In the past few years electricity and water have become available to most people in the area - however, indoor plumbing is very rare. Most of the families are farmers or shepherds and live off the fruits of their labors. Public education is available for those who can afford it and consider it of value. Life in Quiche is always a challenge.
I am very grateful for the opportunity to be part of Living Water and to be blessed with lunch and medicine. My name is Ingrid Carina Riz Morente and it is a pleasure to send you my sincere regards. I am 9 years old now. I was born on September 11, 2017. I attend 2nd grade. I enjoy playing freeze tag and dolls. My favorite animals are chickens and I love pink. I like to eat fried chicken. Let me tell you about my family. Thankfully, they are in good health. My father is Encarnacion Riz Jimon. He works as a farmer. My mother is Juana Morente de la Cruz. She is a housewife, and she raises hens and cows to sell. I have three brothers and seven sisters. Two of my siblings attend the feeding program. My family attends a Methodist church.
God has blessed us with our own house. There are two rooms made of adobe, tin sheet roof and dirt floor with a separate kitchen. It has running water and electricity and my father pays for these services. Some of our main needs are groceries and to lay a concrete floor in our bedroom and kitchen. It takes me about 15 minutes walking from home to get to the feeding program. All I can say is thanks to each and every person who makes this possible.
A big, big hug,
Ingrid Carina Riz Morente
