Chixocol
Guatemala
Child
Chixocol, where your child lives, is a very small village nestled in a mountain valley in the state of Quiche, Guatemala. Life in this state is very difficult and somewhat isolated from the outside world. Most families live in one-room adobe houses with dirt floors and a small attached kitchen. The extremely poor live in houses made of corn stalks. In the past few years electricity and water have become available to most people in the area - however, indoor plumbing is very rare. Most of the families are farmers or shepherds and live off the fruits of their labors. Public education is available for those who can afford it and consider it of value. Life in Quiche is always a challenge.
I am very grateful for the opportunity to be part of Living Water and to be blessed with lunch and medicine. My name is Nayeli Dayana Morente Suar and it is a pleasure to send you my sincere regards. I am 4 years old now. I was born on December 22, 2021. I attend preschool. I enjoy playing dolls, and my favorite animal is the cat. I like to eat rice with beans; this is a traditional Guatemalan dish. Let me tell you about my family. Thankfully, they are in good health. My father is Jorge Eduardo Morente Yat. He works both as a farmer and as a day laborer. My mother is Erika Veronica Suar Riz. She is a housewife and she raises hens for our consumption. Sometimes, she goes to wash clothes for others. I have one brother. My family attends an Evangelical church called Prince of Peace.
God has blessed us with our own house. There are two rooms made of adobe, tile roof and dirt floor. We have electricity and my father pays for this service. We get the water from an artesian well. We share our home with my maternal grandparents. I have dogs as pets. Our greatest needs are groceries and clothes for me. The feeding program is about 20 minutes from my home. All I can say is thanks to each and every person who makes this possible.
A big hug,
Nayeli Dayana Morente Suar
