My Story

Zacualpa is a small but busy village in a mountain valley. The village is inhabited by both Quiché Indians and Ladinos (those with mixed European ancestry). The prevalent language is Spanish. Families in this village live in one or two room homes generally constructed of either wood or adobe. Although many of the people are farmers, the village contains several small specialized stores, a body repair shop for buses, mechanics, plumbers and many other small-town tradesmen. It also has a large open-air market which serves much of the area. Even with all of this, the poverty level is very high and the children are very needy.

Hello! Thank you for reading my information and I hope you find it interesting. My name is Walter Andre Jimon de la Cruz. I was born on September 5, 2018 in Jojabaj, Quiche, Guatemala. I am now 7 years old. I live with my parents in a village called Zacualpa. I am so excited to share a little bit about my family. My mother is Devora Melissa de la Cruz Gomez de Jimon. My father is Walter Jimon Ruiz. Both my parents are primary teachers in a local school. I have one brother, but no sisters. We are a Cristian family and are attending the Emanuel Church. I am so happy to tell you that my family and I are in good health.

I will share with you a few things about me. I am a first-grade student. I like the videogames. My favorite meal is fried chicken. I love animals, especially dogs and chicks. Fortunately, I am a healthy boy. Fortunately, my father owns the house where we live; there are three rooms and a separate kitchen. It is a block house with tin sheet roof and a granite floor. There are running water and electricity services. Water is an annual payment, and electricity is monthly. My mom raises hens. I am so excited to be enrolled in the feeding program, and I get there in 5 minutes by tuk-tuk; my grandma accompanies me. Well, this is all for now, but feel free to ask for more information about me. I would like to hear news from you very soon. Many blessings!

Warm hugs,

Walter Andre Jimon de la Cruz
