My Story

Hello! My name is Amela. I am 8 years old and my birthday is in November. I am happy to share with you about myself and my family through the questions that the team of Adopt a Child is asking me. I am doing well and in good health. My favorite color is purple and I desire to become a medical doctor when I grow up and after I study well at school. I go to third grade primary school here in the village I live and enjoy learning. My favorite subject I enjoy studying the best is Visual Arts. I spend the first part of my day at school enjoying learning and time that I spend there with my classmates. When we walk back from school to our houses, we like to spend a while playing, chatting and we have lots of fun. After I eat lunch, I like to go outside and play with my friends and cousins who live near my house. We meet to play in the roads and our games are simple. I spend quite a while studying in the house and completing my homework for the next day of school and after studying, I draw and color to relax. I have still a few dolls and like to play inside the house with them. During the evenings, I like to sit and watch programs for children on television. I have five members in my family who are my father, mother my two brothers and I. We live in a village that belongs to the community of Prrenjas and this town is close. We travel there whenever we need to do shopping. We have no hospital or clinics in our village and when we need to get a visit from the doctor, we need to go to the hospital of the town. The town has also the community offices and we go there when we need to receive different services needed. Our house is in good condition of living. We own our land and my father deals with farming, planting vegetables and crops for consumption. My mother does the same. She works together with him in the fields and does housekeeping during the day. Besides crops and vegetables we have fruit trees. After collecting the fruits, my mother boils them to turn to jam or fruit juice for consumption. Through planting, we only provide for consumption and are not able to sell anything and this is because the land produces very little. I like to offer myself to help my mother during the day doing small things like tidying up, carrying for my brother who is younger, sweeping and moping the floors, etc. I am happy I got registered in the sponsorship program of Adopt a Child, after frequenting regularly in the Bible classes and church services together with my other friends who go there. I am happy that have the possibility to learn about the Lord through the Bible lessons and from now on, I will start to receive food packages constantly.
