Cuatro Caminos
Guatemala
Child
Cuatro Caminos "four roads", where your child lives, is an area located high on the side of a mountain in the state of Quiche, Guatemala. Life in this area is very difficult and very isolated from the outside world. It is a two hour walk to the nearest market town of Zacualpa. Cuatro Caminos is a farming area where corn and black beans, the staple elements in their diet, are the major crops. The Quiche Mayans who inhabit this area trace their ancestral roots to the ancient Mayan civilization. They normally speak a Mayan dialect called Quiche - however, Spanish is becoming more common. Very little money ever changes hands in this area as they live on a barter system.
Hello! My name is Cesar Agusto Ruiz Garcia, and I am writing this letter to tell you about my life. I was born on February 1, 2018, so I am 7 years old. I am in good health, and I am in 1st grade this year. I like playing soccer and shepherding our sheep in my free time. My favorite color is blue, and I love cows. I really enjoy eating fried chicken. At the moment, my family and I are not attending a church; thank God, everybody is healthy. My father is Camilo Ruiz Garcia, but sadly, he abandoned us 7 years ago. I do not have any information about him. My mother is Petrona Garcia Toj, and she is a housewife. She raises hens and pigs for selling.
We live in our own house, and it has two rooms and a kitchen. It is made of adobe with a tin sheet roof and a dirt floor. Fortunately, we have running water and electricity services. We have pigs, hens, a dog and a cat at home. We are a humble family, and our frequent needs are groceries, clothes and shoes. I have six brothers and one sister, and two of them are registered at the feeding program too. Our oldest sister accompanies us, and we have to walk for 15 minutes to arrive at the program. I tell you that my mom helped me to give my information to LW Evangelism team. This is all for now, but I am hoping to have news from you soon.
Kisses and hugs
Cesar Agusto Ruiz Garcia
