Dueñas

Duenas, where your child lives, is a small farming village located at the foot of one of Guatemala's active volcanoes, Fuego (Fire). The fertile ground around the village allows for the cultivation of roses and coffee, two of Guatemala's largest exports. Most of the families in this area live in one or two room wooden or adobe houses with tin roofs. Electricity is available to those who can afford it. Running water is available - however, most homes do not have indoor plumbing. Public education is available for those who can afford it and consider education of value. Life in Duenas is quiet and sometimes difficult.
Hello! This is Miguel Angel Diaz Reyes. I feel so happy to be part of the feeding program. I am 5 years old. I was born on January 7, 2020. This year I am not attending school yet due to my young age. I enjoy watching TV, playing hide-and-seek and soccer. I am a healthy boy. I love red, yellow and blue. My favorite animal is the dog. I like to eat cereal and banana. We are a Christian family and we attend a church called “Cosechadores del Tiempo Final”. My father is Mario Benjamin Diaz Tubac, and he supports our family by delivering corn in Antigua while my mother stays at home taking care of us and doing the household chores. Thanks to God, they are well. We live in a rented house made of block, concrete roof and ceramic floor. There are three rooms with a separate kitchen, running water and electricity. My father pays for rent Q 700.00 quetzals ($ 94.00) monthly, and he also pays for the other services. We have three dogs and two cats. Our greatest need at the moment is groceries. I would like to ask for your prayers for our family for God to bless us and I pray for you. I walk about 30 minutes from home to the feeding program. Thank you for taking the time to read my letter.
Many blessings,
Miguel Angel Diaz Reyes
