My Story

Zacualpa is a small but busy village in a mountain valley. The village is inhabited by both Quiche Mayans and Ladinos (those with mixed European ancestry). The prevalent language is Spanish. Families in this village live in one or two room homes generally constructed of either wood or adobe. Although many of the people are farmers, the village contains several small specialized stores, a body repair shop for buses, mechanics, plumbers and many other small-town tradesmen. It also has a large open-air market which serves much of the area. Even with all of this, the poverty level is very high and the children are very needy.

It is a great pleasure to greet you through this means. My name is Cristian Yordany Tino Garcia, and I want to tell you a little about my life. I was born on September 14, 2019, so I am 6 years old now. I am in good health, and I do not attend school yet. I love playing with my toy cars in my free time, and I enjoy eating sausage with tomato sauce. My favorite color is red, and I like chicks. I only have two brothers. I attend King Jesus Church with my family. My father’s name is Sabino Tino Riz, and he earns a living by making artisan wells. My mother’s name is Cristina Garcia Gonzalez, and she works as a weaver to help with the income; she also raises hens for selling. Thank God, my parents are both in good health.

We live in our own house, and it has two rooms and a kitchen. The house is made of adobe with a tin sheet roof and concrete floor.  We get the water from an artisan well, and my paternal grandmother provides us with the electricity service; my father helps her with the bill every month. We have hens and chicks at home. We live 20 minutes away from the feeding program, and we take a moto-taxi to get there. We are a humble family, and our frequent needs are groceries and clothes; please keep us in your prayers. I tell you that my mom helped me to give my information to LW evangelism team, and she accompanies me to the program. I hope to have news from you soon.

With much love

Cristian Yordany Tino Garcia
