Dueñas
Guatemala
Child
Dueñas, where your child lives, is a small farming village located at the foot of one of Guatemala's active volcanoes, Fuego (Fire). The fertile ground around the village allows for the cultivation of roses and coffee, two of Guatemala's largest exports. Most of the families in this area live in one or two room wooden or adobe houses with tin roofs. Electricity is available to those who can afford it. Running water is available - however, most homes do not have indoor plumbing. Public education is available for those who can afford it and consider education of value. Life in Duenas is quiet and sometimes difficult.
Hello and many blessings to you and your loved ones. I am so excited to be able to write this biography. It makes me so happy to be able to share some information about me. My name is Edy Alexander Farfan Pelen. I am five years old now and I go to school in pre-k. My birthday is December 20, 2019. I love coloring, and my favorite color is blue. I live with my parents and sister in my grandmother’s house. We also live with my aunt and her family. Our house is very humble, but it is our home. There are three rooms in the house, and we use one of them. We have a small kitchen on the outside of our house that we share. We also have lights and running water that my parents help to pay for. Our house is made of cinderblock with a metal roof and ceramic and concrete floors. We have two pets in my house. We have one dog and one cat. My favorite animal is actually a dog, so I am so happy to have a puppy of my own. We have to walk to the feeding program to get there each week. It takes us about ten minutes to get there. I have loved going to the program and I am so grateful to be able to be a part of it. I love the delicious food they serve us and all the activities we get to do. My favorite food ever is a dish called pepián. It is a very delicious meal that is very typical here in Guatemala. My mom makes a wonderful pepián. Her name is Yasmin Jhaneth Pelen López de Farfan. She is a stay-at-home mom. She works very hard to take care of my sister and I and doing the chores at home. My dad works traveling on motorcycle and making trips for people. His name is Deivis Alexander Farán Ajín, and he works very hard to be able to support my family financially. We still come up short sometimes with money, and it can be hard to cover all our expenses. I humbly tell you that our greatest need as a family would mostly be clothes and supplies for school. But I continue to thank God for the many blessings He has given and provided for us. We have been blessed, and I am so grateful for all that we have received. I thank you so much for taking the time to read my information today. I hope you liked it, and I want to tell you that it makes me so happy to think that someone could be thinking about me and interested in helping me. I pray God will touch your heart to help the people of Guatemala just like me. I pray many blessings over you and your loved ones.
Hugs and kisses,
Edy Alexander Farfán Pelén
