Chixocol
Guatemala
Widow/Widower
Chixocol, where your child lives, is a very small village nestled in a mountain valley in the state of Quiche, Guatemala. Life in this state is very difficult and somewhat isolated from the outside world. Most families live in one-room adobe houses with dirt floors and a small, attached kitchen. The extremely poor live in houses made of corn stalks. In the past few years, electricity and water have become available to most people in the area - however, indoor plumbing is very rare. Most of the families are farmers or shepherds and live off the fruits of their labors. Public education is available for those who can afford it and consider it of value. Life in Quiche is always a challenge.
Hello! My full name is Gladis Gabriela Chingo Garcia and I so happy to share a little about my life with you. I was born on October 25, 2021. So, I am 3 years old. I am in preschool and my favorite color is pink. I have a lot of fun playing with my dolls in my spare time. My favorite domestic animal is the dove. I love having fried rice. About my health, let me tell you that I suffer from malnutrition, but I am already being monitored at the health center. I want to share that I have a lovely family. I have three sisters and three brothers. My father’s name is Jose Chingo. He is a farmer and day laborer. My mother’s name is Lorenza Garcia Benito. She is a housewife and takes care of my siblings and me. Besides that, she raises chickens for our consumption.
We attend a Pentecostal Church called Prince of Peace. We live in a three-room adobe house with a tin sheet roof and a concrete floor. The house belongs to my father. It has a separate kitchen and running water. We are grateful to my grandmother because she provides us with electricity. My father helps her to pay the annual bill. On the other hand, water is paid monthly. I am so happy to be part of LW-Adopt a Child! The feeding program is about 15 minutes from my house, so my siblings and I get there on foot. It is time to say goodbye, but I want to share that my mom helped me to give all this information to LW just for you. I appreciate you reading my letter. Have a blessed and wonderful day!
Sincerely yours,
Gladis Gabriela Chingo Garcia
