My Story

My full name is Jose Luis Orlando Mejia Guzman and it is such a blessing to share with you a little bit about my life. I hope this letter finds you healthy and prospered. Thankfully, I am a healthy boy and I turned 9 years old in October. I am in second grade and I like the summer season because it is perfect to go to pools. To contribute to the household chores, I usually run errands and put away the shoes and toys. I have attended the feeding program for almost two years, and what I like the most about receiving Bible lessons is praying. My father enrolled me there because he wanted me to enjoy all the benefits that he had when he was a child. He told me that he used to gather with his friends to enjoy their meals together. His favorite meals were fried sausages, mashed potato, and hamburger patties. Today, he is in good health and works hard in a warehouse to bring food home. My mother is also doing well and works hard by selling sandals at the market, but unfortunately, sales have dropped.

My parents have made a great sacrifice to provide me with all that I need at school, such as uniforms, shoes, and school supplies, but it has been difficult for them, mostly at the beginning of the year. The first thing they have to cover monthly is the rent of our house which leaves them just a little money to buy food, which is our main needs. My family and I still do not attend a church, but we recently joined a Christian group. Our main motivation to be there is the connection that we have gotten with God. My mother believes in God and believes that listening to the good news will help her to increase her faith. Therefore, brother Juan Carlos (a member of the LW staff) recently shared the gospel with her as an encouragement to give her faith to Jesus and find a church soon. Could you please pray for her and the rest of my family to follow the advice of this brother? It is time to say goodbye, but I want you to know that my mother helped me to compose this letter. Until next time!

Huge hugs,

Jose Luis Orlando Mejia Guzman
