My Story

Tunajá is a very primitive area of the state of Quiché, Guatemala.  The inhabitants are Quiché Indians who trace their ancestral roots to the ancient Mayan civilization.  The prevalent language is the Indian dialect - Quiché.  The people are either farmers or shepherds and live off the fruits of their labors.  Very little money ever changes hands as they use a barter system.  Public education is available - however, most families cannot afford it.  Electricity and running water are not available in most of the area.  Life in Tunajá is extremely difficult.

Hello, it is a nice pleasure to tell you a little about me. My name is Abdi Lemuel Coj Ixporcuac and I am a healthy boy. I was born on December 11, 2024. I am too young to attend school, so I stay at home with my mother. I enjoy playing with toy cars. My favorite color is red, and I like horses. I love eating roasted chicken. I live with my father, mother, one brother and two sisters. My siblings Emely and Israel are registered in the feeding program. My father´s name is Felipe Coj Garcia and my mother´s is Esmirna Avigahil Ixporcuac Coj. My father earns a living by working as a day laborer or farmer while my mother is a housewife. She also improves the income by selling chickens that she raises.

My whole family attends the Church of God. All of us are in good health thanks to God. My father owns the house where we live. It has two rooms and a separate kitchen. The house is made of block walls, tin sheet roof and cement floor. There is an artisanal well where we get our water. My father pays the electricity monthly. My siblings and I enjoy attending the feeding program. We usually walk for 40 minutes with my mother to get there. Our greatest necessity as a family is food. Thank you for giving me your attention and reading this information. My mother gave all this to the LW team so you can know me better. May God bless you for your good heart toward us. Take care! I hope to stay in touch with you.

Many blessings,

Abdi Lemuel Coj Ixporpuac
