My Story

Chixocol, where your child lives, is a very small village nestled in a mountain valley in the state of Quiche, Guatemala. Life in this state is very difficult and somewhat isolated from the outside world. Most families live in one-room adobe houses with dirt floors and a small attached kitchen. The extremely poor live in houses made of corn stalks. In the past few years electricity and water have become available to most people in the area - however, indoor plumbing is very rare. Most of the families are farmers or shepherds and live off the fruits of their labors. Public education is available for those who can afford it and consider it of value.  Life in Quiche is always a challenge.

I greet you in Jesus´s name. I am very happy to have this opportunity to tell you about my life. My name is Lesbia Josefina Tebalan Jimon. I am a 6-year-old girl, and I was born on September 12th, 2018. I like play with my dolls at home. My favorite color is green and I love cats. I am in pre-kinder and thanks to God I am in good health. One of my favorite foods is black beens with sausages. I want to open my heart and tell you a little bit about my family. My father´s name is Juan Tebalan Suar, but sadly he abandoned us three years ago, and we do not know anything about him. My mother´s name is Ana Jimon Castro. She struggles a lot to cover all our needs. She weaves typical clothes and raises some hens to sell. I have one brother and one sister, and my sister is part of the feeding program too. We give thanks to God for being part of Living Water Ministry. We are members of a Catholic Church. We live in my maternal grandmother´s house with my grandparents and my uncles. It has three rooms and a kitchen. The materials that the house is made of are adobe walls, tin sheet roof and dirt floor. We have running water and electricity. We share the payment for these services with my uncles. We just have my mother´s support, so it is very difficult to cover all of our expenses. We have many needs and some of them are clothes and groceries. I ask for your prayers to God to be our provider always. I lWe walk around 1 hour to arrive to the feeding program. May God Bless you!

Best wishes,

Lesbia Josefina Tebalan Jimon
