Dueñas
Guatemala
Child
Duenas, where your child lives, is a small farming village located at the foot of one of Guatemala's active volcanoes, Fuego (Fire). The fertile ground around the village allows for the cultivation of roses and coffee, two of Guatemala's largest exports. Most of the families in this area live in one or two room wooden or adobe houses with tin roofs. Electricity is available to those who can afford it. Running water is available - however, most homes do not have indoor plumbing. Public education is available for those who can afford it and consider education of value. Life in Duenas is quiet and sometimes difficult.
Hello! How are you doing? In this opportunity, I will tell you a little about my life, so I hope you like my information. My full name is Gendri Mauricio Marcos Ramirez. I was born on February 25, 2024. I am a healthy first-grade student. My favorite hobby is playing soccer with my friends and siblings. I have four brothers and two sisters. My favorite color is green. I like horses, and my favorite food is hamburgers. Now, let me tell you about my parents. My father is Marcos Marcos Francisco, and he works as a farmer to support our family economically. My mother is Juana Ramirez Andres, and she keeps busy doing the household chores and taking care of my siblings and me. We are members of the Catholic Church.
We live with my sister-in-law, Manuela Pedro Cristobal, and her five children in a rented house. We share the household expenses with them. The rent payment is Q700=$90.60 monthly. The house’s walls and roof are made of tin sheets with concrete floors. It has two rooms, a separate kitchen, electricity, and running water. We use one room, and my sister-in-law uses the other room. We do not have pets at home, but we raise four chickens for our consumption. I like attending the feeding program because I can have delicious food for free. My siblings, nephews, nieces, and I usually walk for five minutes from where we live to get to the project. To end this letter, I want you to know that a teacher of the LW evangelism team helped my sister-in-law and me to compose this letter to you. See you later!
Special regards,
Gendri Mauricio Marcos Ramirez
