My Story

Chixocol, where your child lives, is a very small village nestled in a mountain valley in the state of Quiche, Guatemala. Life in this state is very difficult and somewhat isolated from the outside world. Most families live in one-room adobe houses with dirt floors and a small attached kitchen. The extremely poor live in houses made of corn stalks. In the past few years electricity and water have become available to most people in the area - however, indoor plumbing is very rare. Most of the families are farmers or shepherds and live off the fruits of their labors. Public education is available for those who can afford it and consider it of value.  Life in Quiche is always a challenge

I am so happy to greet you through this letter. A teacher of the LW evangelism team collected this information and I hope you find it interesting. This is Jamily Lucero Yanika De La Cruz De La Cruz. I was born on July 22nd, 2020. I am 4 years old, and I enjoy playing with plush toys. I love the color pink and goats. My favorite food is fried chicken. I live with my parents and my brother. We are members of a Methodist Church. My father´s name is Juan Carlos De La Cruz Morente and my mother´s name is Maria Lucrecia De La Cruz Barillas. My father works as a farmer and day laborer. My mother is a housewife, and she takes care of us. We live in our own house. It has three rooms, but we use only one of them and a separate kitchen. The house is made of wood walls, tile roof and concrete floor. We have running water and electricity. We have some hens as domestic animals. The feeding program is 20 minutes away from my house. We walk to get there. Thank you very much for taking your time to read my history.

A lot of hugs,

Jamily Lucero Yanika De La Cruz De La Cruz
