My Story

Zacualpa is a small but busy village in a mountain valley.  The village is inhabited by both Quiché Indians and Ladinos (those with mixed European ancestry). The prevalent language is Spanish. Families in this village live in one or two room homes generally constructed of either wood or adobe.  Although many of the people are farmers, the village contains several small, specialized stores, a body repair shop for buses, mechanics, plumbers and many other smalltown tradesmen. It also has a large open-air market which serves much of the area.  Even with all of this, the poverty level is very high, and the children are very needy.

Hello, I am Gabriel Alexander Revolorio Argueta. It is a nice pleasure to tell you about my life and family. I was born on April 4, 2013. I am 11 years old, and I am in the 5th grade this year. My favorite dish is spaghetti. I like blue, and my favorite animal is the cat. I am a healthy boy that enjoys playing soccer. I only have one brother. I attend the feeding program alone. I take a tuc-tuc for 10 minutes to get there.

My father´s name is William Alexander Revolorio Moncada. He supports us by selling pure water in jugs and small bags. My mother´s name is Jenifer Gabriela Argueta Villegas, and she is a housewife. Fortunately, they are in good health. Sadly, we do not attend any church, but I hope to attend one soon. As a family, our main necessity is food. My parents rent a house and they pay Q1000 = $133 every month. It has three rooms and one separate kitchen. It is made of block, cemented roof and ceramic floor. There is running water and electricity that my parents pay monthly and annually. We do not own any domestic animals. Well, before saying goodbye, let me tell you that my mother gave this information to the LW team. I hope you find this interesting. May God bless you for being part of Living Water and most of all for having a generous heart! Take care.

Lots of love,

Gabriel Alexander Revolorio Argueta
