Dueñas
Guatemala
Child
Dueñas, where your child lives, is a small farming village located at the foot of one of Guatemala's active volcanoes, Fuego (Fire). The fertile ground around the village allows for the cultivation of roses and coffee, two of Guatemala's largest exports. Most of the families in this area live in one or two room wooden or adobe houses with tin roofs. Electricity is available to those who can afford it. Running water is available - however, most homes do not have indoor plumbing. Public education is available for those who can afford it and consider education of value. Life in Dueñas is quiet and sometimes difficult.
Hello! My name is Madison Arleth Jolon Cabrera, and I am glad to share a little about my life with you. Before starting, I want you to know that a teacher of the LW evangelism team helped my mom and me to write this letter to you. I was born on November 23, 2020. Today, I am a healthy 3-year-old girl. Due to my age, I am not attending school at the moment. I enjoy playing with my dolls and painting. My favorite color is pink, I like elephants, and my favorite food is Bolognese spaghetti. I am an only child in my family. I want to use this opportunity to ask you to pray for my father who traveled to the United States about one year ago. Fortunately, he is in touch with us and helps us economically. His name is Henry Estuardo Jolon Chuy. He works by assembling and disassembling electromechanics games. On the other hand, my mother dedicates her full time to looking after me and doing the housework. Her name is Jackelinne Jacoba Cabrera Gomez. At the moment, we do not attend any church.
My mom and I live with my paternal grandparents at their house. We help to cover half of the household expenses. Their house is made of concrete block walls and roofs with ceramic floors. The house has four rooms, a separate kitchen, electricity, and running water. My mom and I only use one room. As for pets, I tell you that we have a lovely dog at home. Luckily, my house is near the feeding program. My mom and I usually walk ten minutes from our house to get there. To end this letter, I want you to know that my mom is grateful to LW-Adopt A Child for allowing me to be part of the project. See you later!
Best wishes,
Madison Arleth Jolon Cabrera
