My Story

Dueñas, where your child lives, is a small farming village located at the foot of one of Guatemala's active volcanoes, Fuego (Fire). The fertile ground around the village allows for the cultivation of roses and coffee, two of Guatemala's largest exports. Most of the families in this area live in one or two room wooden or adobe houses with tin roofs. Electricity is available to those who can afford it. Running water is available - however, most homes do not have indoor plumbing. Public education is available for those who can afford it and consider education of value. Life in Dueñas is quiet and sometimes difficult.

Hello! I greet you fondly, hoping you are keeping well. My name is Aaron Eliezer Garcia Lopez and I want to share a little bit about my life with you. I hope you find it engaging. I was born on December 20, 2013. I am in third grade and what I love the most is playing soccer. My favorite animals are lions, I love eating pizza, and my favorite color is blue. The people who I live with are my parents, grandfather, and one brother. I do not have any sisters. My father’s name is Cesar Manuel Garcia Perez. He works hard as a mason to support our family. My mother’s name is Maria Amalia Lopez Cojolon. She keeps busy doing the chores and taking care of me. As for health, we are doing well.

My family and I attend Liberty Church. We live in a small house. It only has one room where everybody sleeps. It also has a separate kitchen. We would like to have an extra room and another bed to live more comfortably. However, our economic situation has not allowed us to do it. Therefore, I would like to count on your prayers for us. The house belongs to my grandfather. The walls are made of concrete blocks, tin sheet roof, and concrete floors. We have electricity and running water at home. My father is the one who pays for those services. As for pets, let me tell you that we have a lovely rabbit. I am grateful to LW because I can have delicious meals at the feeding program. My brother and I usually walk 10 minutes from our home to get there. To end this letter, let me tell you that my mom helped to give all this information to an AAC secretary. I say goodbye to you for now, but I hope to update you about myself soon.

With much love,

Aaron Eliezer Garcia Lopez
