My Story

It is a beautiful day to say hello, hoping you are fine alongside your loved ones. Praise the Lord, my family and I attend Catholic Church, and we go on Tuesdays. My mother is Luciana, and her age is 37 years old. She does the household work and raises hens, turkeys, and cows. Moreover, we grow corn and black beans; it is just for our consumption. My father is Francisco, and his age is 39 years old. He lives and works in the United States, and he does construction work. Fortunately, he is sending us monthly support. I am fine, and so is my family.

I am Yesica Roxana Garcia Riz, and I have only my mother´s last name because I had not been born when my father left for the United States. I am an 8-year-old girl. I am a second-grade student, and my classes are at school. Thankfully, my parents are supporting me at school. My native language is Quiche dialect, and I would like to learn to speak Spanish because I would like to communicate better with other people. I am learning how to do the household work, and later, I would like to work as a maid. I like to play football in my free time; it is the sport I like the most. I like Christmas time because we eat “tamales” (a typical dish) and people light firecrackers all around. To celebrate my birthday, I ask for a cake from my mother. If she can, she gets one, and I enjoy sharing it with her and my siblings. I am so grateful to Living Water who provides me with a tasty meal each time I go and with dental and medical attention; it is a big blessing for me. At home, our primary needs are groceries, corn and clothes. I leave you for now hoping to receive news from you soon. Many and rich blessings!

Warm greetings,

Yesica Roxana Garcia Riz
