My Story

It is a beautiful day to send my greetings hoping you are fine! Praise the Lord my family and I attend Catholic Church; we go on Wednesdays. This time LW staff shared the gospel with us and encouraged us to continue seeking God. I am so thankful to God because my family and I are healthy. My mother is Marta Luisa Mendez Cux, and she is 29 years old. She stays busy with the duties at home, and she also raises hens and pigs to sell and contribute to the income. My father is Jose Chingo Garcia, and he is 31 years old. He is employed as both a farmer and a day laborer. We harvest bananas and lemons; we use them for our consumption.

I am Cristel Vanesa Lisbeth Chingo Mendez, and I am a 10-year-old girl. I was in fourth grade this year; I received classes at school which helped my learning a lot. Since my parents do not have a good job, it was hard for them to supply everything that my teacher asked for school. My dream is to continue with my studies and become a doctor someday. The English language catches my attention, and I would like to learn how to speak it. Basketball is the sport I like the most. I wait anxiously for December because it is the month of my birthday; my family celebrates with me and I enjoy my day with them. Let me tell you that here in Guatemala, we have several hot drinks called “Atol” and my favorite one is “atol de pinol” which is delicious. Being part of the Living Water program is a great blessing for me because I receive meals for free and it is a savings for my parents. We are in need of groceries, and clothes. I say goodbye to you for now. May God bless you greatly!

Kind regards,

Cristel Vanesa Lisbeth Chingo Mendez
