My Story

This is Oscar Mauricio de la Cruz de la Cruz, and I am writing this to update my 2023 information. First, I will tell you about my family. We are now members of New Jerusalem Methodist Church, and we attend the service on Tuesday. We raise hens, cows and pigs for selling and improving our income. We also grow corn for our consumption, and green tomatoes, coriander and peaches for selling. We are a humble family, and our greatest needs are groceries, clothes and shoes. My father’s name is Gerardo, but he is not part of my life. My mother’s name is Marcelina and is 27 years old. She only works hard at home due to her handicap; she has hearing and speech problems. My maternal grandmother Ana Maria, who is 61 years old, covers our expenses. She raises domestic animals and receives economic support from her children. Sadly, my grandfather, Eleodoro, passed away of natural causes at the middle of this year.

Now let me tell you a little about myself. I am 6 years old, and I am healthy. I was in 1st grade this year, and it was a good school year because I received face-to-face classes, and I learned more. It was difficult for my grandma to cover my school expenses because she is responsible for other grandchildren. I do not know yet which profession I would like to have in the future. My favorite celebration is Christmas because I light fireworks. My family usually buys me a cake for my birthday. I prefer soccer as a sport, and I love drinking “mosh” which is a hot beverage made from oats, cinnamon and milk. I want to improve my Spanish since I speak Quiche dialect as my first language. Living Water is very important in my life because I receive a lot of support through the feeding program and clinics. I hope to hear from you soon.

All the best
