My Story

Hello! I send you many greetings hoping you are in good health and you are enjoying life with your family. My name is Manuela Elvira de la Cruz Franco and I am 6 years old. Thank God, we continue attending the Prince of Peace Church every Tuesday. Fortunately, my family and I have faith in our salvation in Christ, and we thank the LW team for sharing the gospel with me and for their encouraging words. Thankfully, this year I am in kindergarten at school. I am receiving face-to-face classes every day. I love to share time with my classmates.  My parents strive to support my brother and me at school. Nowadays, school fees are expensive and sometimes it is difficult to cover all expenses. My native language is the Quiche Mayan dialect, but I would like to learn English; I think this is an interesting language around the world. My favorite celebration of the year is Christmas because we eat “tamales” (a typical dish) and “ponche” (a hot beverage made with fruits). “Mosh” is what I like to drink (a hot drink made with oatmeal). I enjoy playing with dolls. I want to let you know that I like to celebrate my birthday with “piñatas” (a kind of poppet full of candies). Thank God, my family and I are in good health.

My mother`s name is Juana Franco Jimon. She is 27 years old. At the moment, she continues raising hens and pigs to sell and get some income. Moreover, she is learning to weave typical belts. My father`s name is Carlos De La Cruz Gutierrez. He is 28 years old. Nowadays, he earns a living by selling ice cream in another village on his motorcycle in order to contribute to the family`s expenses. He travels to work, and he comes to the house on the weekend. We grow corn and potatoes for the family`s consumption. As a humble family, our current needs are groceries. We are grateful to Living Water because we have been blessed for instance with the meals, medical and dental, and spiritual support. I want to say thank you for the Christmas gift that I receive at year´s end. Every blessing to you!

Many hugs,

Manuela Elvira de la Cruz Franco
