My Story

Hello, what a blessing to greet you! This is Silvia Carolina, and I hope you find my letter engaging. I am ten years old, and I am a member of the Church of Christ. My family and I usually attend it on Wednesdays and Sundays. Having Jesus in my heart is the best! My father is Isaias Gomez, and he is 29 years old. He has been working in the United States for about six years. Nowadays, he works for a chicken bagger to support our expenses. My mother is Rosa Chingo, and she is 28 years old. She takes care of me and works hard at home by cleaning and shepherding sheep to sell when they are older. Besides raising these and hens, she cultivates corn and beans. Thankfully, we are all healthy so far. I am a fourth-grade student this year, and I prefer receiving classes at school; it is easier to learn the lessons. Even though my father works in another country, he does not have a stable job.

In addition, it has been difficult for them to cover my school expenses, and I really want to continue studying to complete at least the sixth grade. Taking advantage of this moment, I want to ask for your prayers for my parents and me. Christmas is my favorite celebration because of the tasty tamales (this is a typical dish); my mother prepares them for this time. I like drinking natural juices, but my favorite is apple juice. I am a native Quiche dialect speaker, although I know a few Spanish words. Therefore, I would like to learn how to speak it well someday. I would like to do many things for my birthday, but my parents cannot celebrate it because of our low resources. Our priority needs are clothes and food supplies, like corn. Now, I want you to know that it is a blessing for me to receive delicious lunches at the feeding program. Besides this, an evangelism teacher of this project shared the gospel with my mother and me while he collected this information for you. Thank you so much for reading my news!

Sincerely yours,

Silvia Carolina Gomez Chingo
