I am so glad to share the news with you about my family and me; God bless you! Praise the Lord we are attending Catholic Church, and we go on Mondays. We trust our salvation in Christ, and we appreciate so much the encouraging words that the LW staff gave us this time. Thankfully, I am healthy and so is my family. My father is Carlos Chingo, and he is 40 years old. He farms the land on his own and grows veggies like potatoes, tomatoes, coriander, and black beans to sell and sustain our family. We take part for family consumption. My mother is Rosalina Chingo Mendez, and she is 38 years old. She does the household work and watches over my siblings and me. Furthermore, she raises hens, sheep, and a cow.
I am Celia Karina Chingo Chingo, and I am an 11-year-old girl. I am a fourth-grade student; I am learning a lot, and I receive classes at school. Supporting me at school is hard for my parents because sometimes the crops are not good, and my father cannot recover the expenses he did. Therefore, it is difficult for him to supply the school expenses. When I grow up, I would like to be a teacher and get a good job. My native language is K'iche´ Mayan dialect, I can speak a little Spanish, but I would like to improve it so that I can communicate better with other people. To celebrate my birthday, I love to wear my Quiche typical suit and have a good time with my family. About drinks, my favorite is “atol de pinol” (it is a hot beverage) which is delicious. I like Christmas time because of the firecrackers; I light some of them and have a lot of fun with my siblings. We also eat “tamales” (a typical dish). The sport I like the most is football. I take this opportunity to give endless thanks for the love and support I receive through Living Water. I am so blessed to be part of the program because I receive tasty meals, and medical attention in the clinics. At home, the principal need for us is groceries. Sending all my love and hoping to receive news from you soon. Many and rich blessings!
Lots of love,
Celia Karina Chingo Chingo
