My Story

Hello! I hope from the bottom of my heart that you are in good health and receiving the Lord`s blessings with your loved ones. In this opportunity, I want to share with you some news about my family and me. I am Maria Us Quixan and I am 7 years old. My mother`s name is Ana Quixan Luis, and she is 24 years old. Currently, she works as a day laborer and she continues washing clothes for others, digging sand in the river and also raising hens to sell and get some income. As you know, my father abandoned us many years ago. At the moment, my mother is the only one that supports us with home expenses. We are a humble family, so our current needs are groceries, corn, and clothes. Nowadays, we are attending the Church of God. Thank you to the LW evangelism team who encouraged us to continue trusting in God. Thankfully, all my family and I are in good health.

This year I am in 1st grade at school. I am receiving face-to-face classes, and I like this study method because I learn faster about the subjects. My mother strives to support me with school expenses even though she does not have a stable job, and also the school fees are very expensive. Sometimes it is very difficult to cover all expenses. My native language is the Quiche Mayan dialect, so I would like to learn Spanish and improve my communication with others. In the future, I want to become a teacher. My favorite celebration of the year is Christmas because I like to eat “tamales” (a typical dish). I prefer hot drinks such as: “mosh” (it is a beverage made with oatmeal). Among sports, I prefer to play soccer.  For my birthday, I like to receive some gifts from my family. We are grateful to Living Water because I receive the meals, medical and dental attention, and spiritual support. I want to say thank you for the Christmas gift that I receive at year´s end. Take care.  Many blessings to you!

Huge hugs,

Maria Us Quixan
