My Story

Hi! I greet you cordially and hope you are doing fine. First of all, my family and I are grateful to you and Living Water because I receive medical and dental attention in the LW clinics. In addition, I have a meal and spiritual support at the Feeding Program. I want to let you know that we attend the Prince of Peace Church every Sunday and Thursday. Thank you to the LW evangelism team for their encouraging words to my mother during the visit, so we are sure of our salvation in Jesus. My mother´s name is Cecilia Gonzalez Coj. She is 36 years old. Currently, she continues weaving typical shawls to sell and get some income. In addition, she raises hens to sell. My father`s name is Juan Pastor Calachij.  He is 37 years old. At the moment, he works as a farmer and day laborer in order to support the family financially. Thank God, my family and I are in good health.

My name is Yoselyn Pastor Gonzalez, and I am 9 years old. This year I am in 2nd grade at school.  I receive face-to-face classes daily and am learning a lot with this study method and I have fun with my classmates. Thankfully, my mother is making an effort to support me at school despite the school fees being so expensive and that she does not have a stable job. Sometimes it is difficult to cover every expense. When I am older, I want to help my mother with chores at home. My native language is the Quiche Mayan dialect, so I would like to learn Spanish to improve my communication with others. “Incaparina” (a hot beverage made of soy and corn flour) and fruit juices are what I prefer to drink. Christmas is my favorite celebration of the year because our custom is to prepare “tamales and poche” (a typical dish and hot beverage made with fruits). What I like to do for my birthday is to eat delicious cake and share it with my family. We grow corn for our family`s consumption. I like to go out for a walk in the green fields. As a humble family, our needs are corn and groceries. Thank you for the Christmas gift that I receive through Living Water Adopt-A-Child every December. I hope you like to read my letter and may God bless you greatly!

Kisses and hugs,

Joselyn Pastor Gonzalez
