My Story

I greet you in the name of Jesus, and I hope you are doing fine alongside your loved ones. I want to share some news about my family and me through this letter. I am Marlon Obeth de la Cruz Mendez, and I am 7 years old. I want to let you know that we continue attending Liberty Church from LW twice a week. This year I am in 2nd grade at school. I am receiving face-to-face classes and I am learning a lot. Thankfully, my parents are making an effort to support my brothers and me at school in spite of the school fees being so expensive and that they do not have a stable job. In the future, I want to become a policeman. I speak Spanish where I live, so I would like to learn the Mayan Quiche dialect to improve my communication with others. My favorite celebration of the year is Christmas because I like to receive some little gifts from my family when they have economic resources. I prefer to drink Pepsi-Cola. Soccer is my favorite sport. What I would like to have for my birthday is “piñatas” (a kind of poppet full of candies). By the grace of God, all the rest of my family and I are in good health.

My mother`s name is Julia Mendez Grave. She is 38 years old. Nowadays, she continues doing chores at home. In addition, she raises hens to sell and get some income and sometimes for our consumption. My father`s name is Alberto De La Cruz Riz.  He is 49 years old. At the moment, he continues working in his small hardware store. I ask for your prayers for him because he suffers from diabetes. Fortunately, he visited the doctor, and he is under medical treatment. As a humble family, our current needs are corn and black beans. We are grateful to Living Water because we have been blessed with meals, medical and dental, and spiritual support. I want to say thank you for the Christmas gift that I receive every end of the year. Thank you for everything you do for me! May God bless you!

Kisses and hugs,

Marlon Obeth de la Cruz Mendez
